When Culture Travels: Kirrikin’s Journey to Saudi Arabia

Posted by Lauren Davidson on

There are times when fashion becomes much more than what we wear. It becomes a vessel for story, identity, ceremony, and connection. Kirrikin’s recent presence in Saudi Arabia is one of those moments that reminds us of the depth and meaning carried within every piece we create.

When Kirrikin finds its way to new countries, it doesn’t just bring fabric. It brings the stories of the artists who created each design. It carries the spirit of Country. It holds the threads of culture, community, and shared humanity. And this month, those threads wove themselves into a series of powerful moments across Saudi Arabia.

Honouring Women, Culture and Community

Our designs were worn proudly at three significant events that reflect the heart of what Kirrikin stands for.

The International Day of Women in Diplomacy

A celebration of strength, leadership, and global contribution. Seeing our pieces represented amongst women shaping international relationships was a moving reminder of the power of cultural storytelling in global spaces.

NAIDOC Celebration with Diplomats and Saudi Friends

This gathering brought together people from around the world to honour First Nations culture. It was a moment of unity and cultural exchange, where Kirrikin’s designs stood as a bridge between communities, carrying the artistry and heritage of Indigenous Australia with pride.

The Washing of the Kaaba Ceremony in Makkah

A deeply sacred moment, where Lauren was honoured to participate and represent Australia’s Muslim community. To witness Kirrikin worn in a place of such reverence and global significance is something our whole team carries with immense respect and gratitude.

A Journey Built on Connection

Every international showcase teaches us something new about the power of culture. Whether on a runway, in a classroom, or at a ceremony of profound meaning, Kirrikin’s pieces continue to create moments of connection that transcend borders, language and backgrounds.

Our role is to honour the artists, the stories, and the communities behind every design. Seeing those stories travel the world and be welcomed with such warmth and respect is a privilege we do not take lightly.

As we continue to share Aboriginal art and fashion globally, moments like these strengthen our purpose. Kirrikin is more than a brand. It is a celebration of identity, storytelling, and the shared humanity that connects us all.

Thank you to the Australian Embassy in Saudi Arabia for the support and partnership.
