There is something remarkable about watching culture, design, and community come together on a global stage. Over the past month, Kirrikin has had the privilege of sharing Aboriginal fashion, art, and storytelling with audiences across India and the United Arab Emirates, strengthening our mission to honour First Nations creativity through meaningful international partnerships.

A Celebration of Culture in Delhi
Our journey began in Delhi, where we delivered a breathtaking runway showcase supported by the Australian High Commission, the Fashion Design Council of India, and the Centre for Australia India Relations. More than 250 guests filled the grounds of the Australian High Commissioner’s residence, including leaders from fashion houses, media, government, and cultural organisations.
The energy in the space was electric. Each design carried the stories of the artists who created them, and seeing those stories come to life on the runway was a proud moment for our entire team. It was a reminder of the impact Aboriginal art can have when shared with intention, respect, and creativity.
During our time in Delhi, we also spent a meaningful day with students at the University of Delhi’s Fashion and Design School. Together, we explored how culture and storytelling shape sustainable fashion. Their curiosity and enthusiasm highlighted the growing global appetite for authentic, ethically driven design — the very foundation of Kirrikin’s work.
Sharing Culture Across Borders in Abu Dhabi
From Delhi, our team travelled to Abu Dhabi, where we connected with the Australian community in the UAE for an evening filled with warmth, conversation, and cultural exchange. One of the highlights was visiting the British School Abu Dhabi, where we shared stories of Indigenous Australian culture. Even the Australian Ambassador joined the students for a spirited “kangaroo dance,” creating a moment of joy and connection that we will never forget.

A Powerful Opening Performance
A special thank you goes to Jack Collard and Jay McLean, whose opening performance in Delhi set the tone with powerful movement, music, and spirit. Their artistry grounded the entire event, reminding everyone in attendance that Aboriginal storytelling is both ancient and alive — carried forward through every step, rhythm, and design shared.
Honouring Art, Culture, and Community
This journey reflects what drives Kirrikin at its core. Fashion is our medium, but culture is our heart. Each showcase is an opportunity to celebrate First Nations art, spark meaningful conversations, and bring communities together across borders.
We are honoured to be part of a growing global movement that values art, sustainability, and cultural connection. And we look forward to continuing this journey — sharing stories, building partnerships, and showing the world the timeless beauty of Indigenous design.
